Are wheel spacers safe?

Wheel spacers are safe when installed and maintained correctly.

Yes! Wheel spacers and adapters are safe when properly installed. While they do put a bit more demand on steering components like ball joints, tie rods, and wheel bearings, following a few simple guidelines will keep everything running smoothly.

Tips for Safe Installation:

  • Always use high-quality spacers from a reputable brand.
  • Never stack multiple spacers or adapters on top of each other.
  • Use a torque wrench, not an impact gun, to avoid over-tightening or stripping threads.
  • Make sure your lug nuts have at least 6 to 8 full threads of engagement.
  • Never install wheels with inner lug nuts or studs sticking out past the face of the spacer.

Professional installation is always recommended to make sure everything is torqued correctly and fitted safely. Have questions? Feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help!
