How do I measure my bolt pattern?

Your bolt pattern is determined by the number of lugs and the distance between specific studs, with different measuring methods depending on your lug count.

Measuring your bolt pattern is easier than it sounds - and getting it right is essential to making sure your new wheels fit properly.

A bolt pattern is shown as two numbers, like 6x5.5 or 5x114.3. Here’s what those numbers mean:

  • The first number tells you how many lug studs (or bolts) your wheel has.

  • The second number is the distance between specific studs.

How to Measure

The way you measure depends on how many lugs your vehicle has:

  • 5-Lug Bolt Pattern:
Measure from the center of one stud to the outside edge of the farthest stud across the hub.

  • 4, 6, or 8-Lug Bolt Patterns:
Measure from the center of one stud directly across to the center of the opposite stud.

Example

A 6x5.5 bolt pattern means:

  • 6 lugs

  • 5.5 inches measured from the center of one stud to the center of the opposite stud

If the second number is larger, such as 6x139.7, that measurement is in millimeters instead of inches.

Taking a few extra minutes to measure carefully helps ensure proper fitment and prevents ordering the wrong wheels. If you’re unsure about your measurement, our team is always happy to help confirm it for you.
