What is not covered under the manufacturer warranty?
The manufacturer warranty does not cover damage caused by road hazards, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or modifications made after purchase. Understanding these exclusions before installing your wheels and tires can help you protect your warranty eligibility and know when to reach out for support.
Understanding what is not covered under the manufacturer warranty is just as important as knowing what is. Here is a complete breakdown of what falls outside of warranty coverage for wheels, tires, and accessories so there are no surprises if you ever need to submit a claim.
General exclusions that apply to all products
Regardless of the product type, the following situations are generally not covered under any manufacturer warranty:
- Damage caused by improper installation, including over torquing lug nuts, use of power tools during installation, or failure to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions
- Damage caused by accidents, collisions, or impacts with road hazards such as potholes, curbs, or debris
- Damage resulting from misuse, neglect, or use outside of the product's intended application
- Products that have been modified, altered, or repaired after purchase by anyone other than the manufacturer
- Normal wear and tear that occurs over time with regular use
- Damage caused by improper storage before installation
- Products purchased from unauthorized resellers or third parties. Items must have been purchased directly from our store to be warranty eligible
- Warranty claims submitted by anyone other than the original purchaser, as warranties are non-transferable
What is not covered under the wheel warranty?
In addition to the general exclusions above, here is what is specifically not covered under the wheel manufacturer warranty:
- Damage caused by road hazards such as potholes, curbs, rocks, or other impacts that result in bends, cracks, or fractures
- Cosmetic damage such as scratches, scuffs, chips, curb rash, or finish wear caused by normal use or environmental exposure
- Finish damage caused by improper cleaning methods, harsh chemicals, acidic cleaners, or abrasive products
- Wheels that have been repainted, refinished, powder coated, or otherwise modified after purchase
- Damage caused by incorrect lug nuts, improper hardware, or mismatched seat types
- Damage caused by improper torque, including over torquing or under torquing lug nuts during installation
- Minor cosmetic blemishes on the backside of the wheel, which are considered industry standard across all wheel manufacturers and do not affect structural integrity or performance
- Damage resulting from the use of wheel spacers or adapters that were not properly installed or that exceeded the wheel's load rating
What is not covered under the tire warranty?
In addition to the general exclusions above, here is what is specifically not covered under the tire manufacturer warranty:
- Damage caused by road hazards such as nails, screws, glass, potholes, or other debris that result in punctures, cuts, or sidewall damage
- Damage caused by improper inflation, including consistently running tires that are over or under inflated
- Tread wear that is consistent with normal use and driving conditions, even if the tires wear faster than expected due to driving habits or road conditions
- Damage caused by misalignment, improper tire rotation, or worn suspension components that accelerate uneven tire wear
- Damage caused by improper mounting or installation, including tires that were stretched beyond the recommended width for the wheel size
- Damage caused by off road use, racing, or other applications that exceed the tire's intended use and load rating
- Sidewall damage caused by running a tire at extremely low pressure for an extended period
- Tires that have been driven on while flat or severely under inflated
What is not covered under accessory warranties?
Here is what is not covered for specific accessory items:
Standard and spiked lug nuts:
- Damage caused by improper installation including use of power tools or over torquing
- Finish wear caused by normal use, environmental exposure, or improper cleaning
- Damage caused by seized valve stem caps due to failure to apply anti-seize lubricant before installation
- Any issues arising after the 30 day limited warranty period
TPMS sensors:
- Damage caused by improper installation or programming
- Sensor failure caused by physical damage, road hazards, or corrosion
- Issues arising from incompatibility with a specific vehicle that were not identified at the time of purchase
- Any issues arising after the one year warranty period
Hub rings and center caps:
- Hub rings and center caps are not supported by any manufacturer warranty
- If they arrive damaged or defective, contact us immediately and do not install them. We will work with you and the manufacturer to find a resolution even though they fall outside of standard warranty coverage
What about ceramic coating?
Ceramic coating is a one time service and is non-refundable once applied. Here is what to know regarding warranty coverage:
- Ceramic coating is not covered under the wheel manufacturer warranty as it is an aftermarket service applied after the wheel leaves the manufacturer
- If the ceramic coating was applied incorrectly or has a defect that is clearly the result of the application process rather than normal use, contact us right away with photos and we will work to find a fair resolution
- Ceramic coating wear caused by improper cleaning methods, harsh chemicals, or normal environmental exposure is not covered
